Most people are frightened off by the suggestion that our essential Self is God. Some people fear that such ideas may make us big-headed. But that is not true because we also learn that everyone else is essentially God too. In a way this idea, that we are all connected with each other and God, makes us behave better towards each other. This gives us the best reason for being moral. The reason why we should not hurt or harm anyone else is because unknowingly we are harming ourselves. The reason why we should help each other is also very easy to appreciate; essentially we are helping ourselves!
